Free Virgin WiFi

Anyone else get a letter this morning?

So they give me a shite superhub 2ac and now want to allow anyone who wants to use my wifi to have access...............

Is there anyway to stop this or is it virgin just taking over you connection

i think its good its using a part of the router that is not in use at the moment so if you don't opt out and you have a virgin mobile there will be hundreds of mini hotspots to connect to yes at the bottom of the email you can opt out but the you wont get the benefit of the new service

Well thats the way I'm going

I have the older generation ShperHub and only use modem mode, no WiFi.

Might have to check that.

I can't see the problem, it's not using your wifi.

BT have been doing this for years.

Of course, customers who don't want their routers to be used as part of the service can always opt out through their My Virgin Media profile, but it does mean they won't be able to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi.

If its running trough your super hub it has to take away some amount of speed, what about capping times that surely must slow things down.

Just remember guys this works both ways. You could be stuck in the middle of nowhere and desperately need access to Wifi who are you going to turn to?. As @manic01 states it is a separate setting being used from your very own personal modem, you don't pay for it? so what is the problem? although a little discount wouldn't go a miss for its loyal customers .

does this mean I can cancel my internet save £30 and still get free wifi

Yes guess they are just doing the same as BT fon..I was automatically opted in for BT fon as I'm a BT customer and came in real handy when I was on a cap and when I moved..
I have never noticed any difference in my speeds etc..

Don't virgin still slow you down once you have reached a certain download/upload ratio?

I would expect that the 'free' wifi side of things doesn't count towards your download/upload ratio otherwise you could find you get slowed down thanks to others using your wifi.
