Fooking hell another £3 a month that's the 2nd time this year its gone up for me robbing CU*TS!

From Hotukdeals
Hi All,

Just a heads up that Virgin Media are putting the prices of their TV packages up again, this means that since signing a contract approx 8 months ago, they have increased my monthly bill by £4.50 in February and now a further £3 on 1st September.

The good news is that as a result of these increases you are free to leave Virgin even if mid-way through a contract. So if you've been looking at some of the sky offers or even freeview then now is the chance to act and get rid of the money-grabbing ****** and ditch Virgin once and for all.

Anyone wanting to cancel has got until 31st August to give their notice.

I've just told that to their customer services. I'm not prepared to pay for channels that they are forcing on me that I don't watch. They've given me an 8 month credit to my account. Call them up.

I've just called them and told them im not prepared to pay an extra £3 per month for a sports channel I'm not going to use. They've added a £3 per month credit to my account for the next 8 months.

if it wasn't for Virgins great internet I would move everything over to sky but nobody can get anywhere close to virgin on the internet. Might cancel the phone and TV though as never use the landline anymore even have free 08 numbers with my mobile now.

I konw it's not really needed but, will they let you cancel the phone line and still have the broadband?

You get a discount for Virgin Broadband if you have the phone, works out cheaper than without the phone I think

I took up sky's offer of 50% discount for Virgin customers, I have full package now for about £35pm less than when I was fully Virgin

I may contact Sky to see what they can do for us. I don't think I could do without my extra channels or broadband now, freeview is such a bore. It is getting a bit silly price wise now though. Would sky do the same as Virgin though?. I mean cheap to start off with, then after the first year get hammered price wise.New customers get some cracking deals though.

sky will do same
loyalty means nothing
new customers get better deals shocking
currently awaiting my offer of a deal

It actually works out dearer to have the phone line as well as broadband example:

100mb Broadband only 12 month contract £33.50 a month = £402

100mb broadband + phone 18 month first 12 months = £353 then another 6 months @£236.94 total = 589.94

still cheaper to take the broadband on its own due to the 12 month only contract all the others are 18 month

@idrob

yeah i been thinking of doing this, but i dont pay much more for the lot and it keeps her indoors happy with her tivo box :)

Focus

Her indoors as we call them did give me a little hassle when I cancelled our landline, but when I gave her a new mobile loaded with WhatsApp, Viber, LINE, KakaoTalk, and Skype she never mentioned it again.

Plus all our family and friends are on the same mobile network as us, so all calls are free. And now even the 0800 numbers are free

As for the TV, ever since we got the T8, I don’t think we watched a single SD program or film. So there’s definitely no need for that either.
