Posting on this site?

Hi everyone, can I ask someone in the know a question please?

Trying to participate in the forum as I am new and all, enjoying it and have just realised that all my posts seem to be disappearing? I understand that if you are new, you must post 5 times etc, was trying to make the effort and now feel a bit let down. Didn't think I was posting rubbish so what's the score with posts disappearing?

the problame this site gets is alot of members who join and
just post needles rubbish to hit 5 posts. Not saying every one does but we get a lot doing that just to takes files etc then run.
The best way to keep your post count etc is to post good helping things, No mod would take posts away if they are good and not put there for clocking posts up.

Somebody obviously did and deleted them.

I'm sure some of your other posts will not be classified as such and won't be deleted.

You replied to numerous threads that were 18 months old or more in some cases.
Probably the reason.

I didn't realise there was a time limit set for replying to a post that was still visible in the Rant forum? I spent time reading the posts and assumed I was contributing to the forum! Pretty dejecting to find that your thoughts of more than four words and a few exclamation marks have been deleted. Now what is the point of me spending time here to try to contribute when, if my opinion does not align with the powers that be, they are deleted?

The person that posted 'Free upgrade! Yes please!' is obviously after download, if I was just after download, I had already passed the 5 post requirement! Now I'm ranting. I shall stop and take my punishment.

It is your choice if you want to stay here.
That person who posted the free upgrade has already had a pm sent and posts deleted.

you have to understand that site staff have to delete countless posts day in and day out..
im not saying all your posts were bad, but have a look at these.

Hi @Aanubis As a Moderator/Admin its part of our work to keep the forum free of spam/clcoking posts that our members get sick of reading

I can tell you from first hand experience that we get numerous members each day clocking for downloads, it's not easy for the staff members to tell who is genuine and who is clocking, a lot of our longer standing and VIP members report posts for moderators to look at and then determine if they are contributing to the forum

when posting think is this post contributing to the forum ? not just you but any new member

hope this helps you a little understand what we are up against daily

Hi Rat, thanks for the reply and to you all, I do completely understand, but as a simple example, a few of my posts I thought I was being funny, I assumed wrong, on another thread I posted on, 'McDonald's (Salt), I was advised the post was old, but since I posted on it, numerous new posts have been added to that thread including one from yourself Rat and maniac01.

I understand some might be ok
but a couple pointed out by buzzer maybe not so
so in some cases so save time a mod may just delete the 4, 5, 6 posts to save time sorting through what is good and what is not

we all do this in our free time and even on our phones while at work if we get a minute

Im not saying its the fairest or best way but its the way we do it with so many clockers

members dont read there welcome PMs, get to 5 posts and stop instantly then post why cant they download

Just to add we do sometimes get it wrong but we do try our best to be fair. It is the members forum (that includes you ) We are only trying to look after it for the members benefit.

Hi Anubis, it was me who deleted your posts mate, as explained to you we get an awful lot of people post crap just for a download, I just saw the post dates and just went into auto delete mode, I apologise for that as you seem a decent new member, you are out of the "Radar" now with posts so hope you enjoy it here and I haven't put you off

Thanks for that Bronto, appreciated. I do feel a little put off but I am sure I will get over it, just wanted to rekindle a few posts I found interesting and I suppose I did, however, got annoyed the posts were removed and people started adding to the old threads.

Rat, I have a suggestion? More that likely already thought of but here goes, for the download post issue and the amount of time spent moderating new members posts, surely a time element to the post/download issue would help? e.g. New member registers, posts their 5 post requirement to access download section, obviously, common sense would still apply if the posts are gibberish, they then also have to wait a finite length time, even something between 1 - 3 days would put off most idiots or longer if suitable, before they can access the download section of the site. This would, in the most part, weed out the file leechers and allow the moderators to make a more informed decision as to the legitimacy of a new members posts and allow them more free time for other ventures?

there is already a 24hour waiting period in place ,
unfortunatly this seems to act as no deterent at all...

Im on my seventh post at the mo and failed a download, but im in no hurry and i often help more than i ask (previous forays into Tele watchin in a time long forgotten lol) so its swings n roundabouts as i see it, once ive got comfy and mi slippers on ill no doubt support the site where possible as i used to run a gaming server with a bunch of like minded individuals and know its costly and time consuming.
