Don't know whether to LOL, or feel for you there.
But I agree, they should be confined to the 5th of November only and possibly new year.

Someone at the back of us was just letting fireworks off. It's nice for the kids to watch but I do agree they should only be let off on the 5th of november.

they are not like they usto be, the ones these days as said by @AJT they sounds like rounds going off, going to be worse aye...not much of a fan of them my self.

To be honest neither am I, I don't think they should be sold to the general public and only to be used in organised displays.
An incendiary for public use...

The fireworks on sale nowadays are far more powerful than the fairly feeble bangers on sale 20-25 years ago. They are a nuisance and a danger. Restrict their use to public displays only.

TBH the sale of fireworks to the general public should be banned, on the following grounds:

a. In the wrong hands (i.e. inexperienced ones - plus the added factor of alcohol) they can often lead to injuries.
b. They are a public menace if continually let off at all times of the night.
c. They are often used by the sub-normal members of our society to intimidate and maim.

I'm not advocating a wholesale ban as I think firework displays are brilliant if well organised by professionals. I just can't see why, in these days when we're all supposed to be so hung up about our personal safety, that you can still buy explosives over the counter.

5th? What about Halloween night?

I agree m8 100%

Discovered this year that one of my dogs is terrified by the fireworks, was fine previous two years. It is a real pain having fireworks going off for what seems the entire week. Fireworks have naff all to do with Halloween and then you get the Saturday before and after (which I can kind of understand when bonfire night falls on a weekday). They used to be about the display but it seems more about the noise these days.

5th? What about Halloween night?

Is that a serious question?

I agree with most of the points made here. A lot of the fireworks nowadays seems to be aimed at massively loud explosions rather than colourful displays.

I'm all for restricting their use to organised public displays only now.

It's not often the Portuguese authorities get things right these days, but here the (public) sale of fireworks is banned. Of course we don't have Guy Fawkes' night here and hallowe'en is mostly kids dressing up and trick-or-treating. (I wish they'd ban the hunters though, we hear them every Thursday & Sunday throughout the winter :( but they were here first so can't really complain).

Don't have issues myself with fireworks yet! don't even have people trick or treating etc.. but again.. it is rural around here..

Are you all messing with me? For the last 27 years there hasn't been 1 Halloween that that hasn't had multiple people setting off fireworks and towns doing firework displays, so I'm confused that you all don't do this too
