hi,got my renewal quote from car insurance place today which was £398, thought it seemed abit high, so went on the car insurance website, place im currently with, and got a quote for £314, same happened last year i saved about £50 or £60 then , so rang em up and again they matched the price i got online from there own website but this time i conmplained saying im quite angry and all that, there reply was we think theres a glitch in the system, what from last year lol, anyway i aired my views and paided, but can you imagine the amount of people that will just auto renew with out checking, anyway rant over, glad i saved myself £80 but pisses me off they try it on, with loyal customers aswell,

It is not just Car insurance, they all take advantage if you just pay up and stay loyal.
The thing with car insurance is, you pay for people who are not insured, but when these people are caught the Government only takes the money.

Think it's called customer inertia; where their customers just auto-renew without shopping around or even speaking up about the renewal cost. Nothing in it for firms to offer an incentive for you to stay if you're not leaving them.

i couldnt agree more, insurance companies show ZERO loyalty to their customers and just hit them in their pockets. we should all do the same, ive never stayed more than one year with one company, in the 20 years ive been driving ive always hunted around for that better deal, back in the day i used to spend many many hours calling one company after another, the internet has made it much easier so there really is no excuse now for being ripped off by them.
Ive only just renewed both our policy's, when i confronted admiral about the price hike they just said that they give bigger discounts to new customers - nice way to hold on to existing custom income, I saved £700 across two policy's just by switching (same fully comp cover and lower excess as well).

Mine went up £100, did online search and it says even higher, I asked why as nothing had been changed in my policy and the person had no clue, gutted

I have just done a quote (astra 1.9cdti sri 150) with aviva i did it through quidco, fully comp me and wife protected bouns £213 with £70 cash back £143.

i was paying £500 last year for a 1.5 megane dci , my friend had a bmw m3 to sell cheap so i said i would want it but insurance will kill me, been quoted £380.......£1k excess but still. still quoted more on my 2.0 alfa i have now..madness

I did that a few years ago, got same/similar Quidco c/b. I went with them with nine years NCB and left with proof of five as that's their max NCB. Cost me more on renewal with other firms as I couldn't show proof of ten years NCB.
