Found out I was due an upgrade today for my mobile phone contract so went to the nearest O2 shop to see what I could haggle out of them.

Now, I'm only on a cheap contract so expected to have to haggle hard but didn't think it would be a problem with the phone bill I had last month (through the roof is an understatement).

Anyway, only phone they had on their website I was interested in was the Tocco so asked about that one. Bloke told me the only way I could get it free was on a £75 a month contract (otherwise £99 on my tariff)! I had a quick scan on the Orange site earlier and they were doing it for free on £30. Guy kept wandering off to do other things too while he was meant to be serving me. I asked him if I'd get a better deal if I phoned O2. He told me no. I gave it a go anyway. Guy on the other end basically told me Tocco is out of stock and don't know how long for and tried to talk me into other tariffs and phones I had no interest in. Same for the Nokia N95 and SE C902. Only decent phones I would have considered.

Straight to Phones4U. Guy offered me a Tocco for free, gave me a demonstration, half price memory card and 2 months free insurance! All on the same tariff.

Got to say O2 disappointed me (even says those phones I was told are out of stock are in stock online) but Phones4U were fantastic! Deffo going there again for my next upgrade.

never had a problem with 02 got a upgrade with there fair deal policy
free n82
500 anytime mins
100 text
free 02 calls weekends
18 month contract
£15.00 a month

I'm on o2 never had any problems I got one that rolls over, last time I checked my allowance I had 700min to use before the 29th if not it rolls over plus the 600mins I get per month I don't think I've ever gone over since I've had the contract on my third year!!

agreed with you mate.. I had two contracts with them,. when it was time to upgrade.. they couldnt be bothered by giving me a better deal.. With orange for two years now.. and dont need to ask them twice for a better deal..

I like Vmedia £10 a month for 300min 300text does me just right I normally finish every month with 30 are so spare mins and 250 texts for £10 im loving it

I am surprised at your failure to get a good deal from 02. They price matched dialaphones 'effective monthly cost' for me on last upgrade.

IMO you have to speak to cancellation department, there the ones with the power to give you a good deal.
my 02 is £100 credit as i use my own phone, 500 mins 200 texts £15 a month. with the credit it s like paying £7.50. i`m pretty happy with that.

i have had a couple of run ins with 02 but always got things sorted in end, and i am currently on a good deal in my eyes, i got a brand new N95 8gb last year with 750 mins anytime any network, and 750 texts and some megabyte internet usage for £20 per month, and can renew 3 months early of my contract as i am a select customer.

That is an awesome deal!

I did push O2 on Sunday for a better tariff but got sick of the woman on the phone telling me different things. She told me I could add unlimited texts to my tariff and then told me I couldn't. Then I couldn't change to an 18 month tariff and then I could?? I just gave up in the end. I never usually use all of the inclusive allowance anyway. Just last couple of months been apart from girlfriend until August so hammered my contract!

I'm happy with my O2 contract, I got a Samsung U600, 600mins, 500txt, unlimited landline calls and a free PS3

i got £100 credit when i upgraded cos i kept my phone, 4-5 months without paying did me fine, just rang yesterday and got the n95 8gb refurb for 99.99 as posted in bargains
