Getting sunburnt in SoCal
My external hard disk (partitioned) is now playing up. Im getting the error

file or directory is corrupted and unreachable

Damn, just got Hellgate and few other things. I moved it onto there and no probs. But now anything I try to access, I get the error

"the file or directory is corrupted and unreachable"

So pissing me off. I cant even chkdsk it as it says "device is type RAW".

Can see the folders in windows and got loads of stuff on there (over 100gigs worth of backups).

Ive started GetDataBack running, hopefully it can retrieve my files.

Damn Western Digital drive as well.

Anybody else experience this?

Is it a mybook, heard a few things about thoes one guy I know had the 500GB mybook, somehow it got corrupt and he lost all his shit, thing was full, I would backup what you can on dvd ect ASAP...and try a full format.

Its a WD Essentials. I cant backup as its not accessible.

GetDataBack is a superb tool. Im currently running that, normally a good success rate, Im hoping that success rate continues.
Will backup onto my PC, then onto dvd's!!! (if I can get the files back)
then reformat that partition.

Thank god I partitioned it. The other two partitions are fine.

Can you get the hard drive out of the enclosure and put it into your machine?

mmm pc section !!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Rat, I was just really pis*ed off at a newish western digital playing up.

I connected it to my laptop (problem was on desktop at home) and it seemed fine.

So now the issue is, is it playing up or something wrong with my desktop. Either way Im not touching it now until when I get home at the weekend and backup everything.
