My mate has given me his PSP which only has a green light with blank screen. I have created pandora battery from my own PSP but when I put it in his PSP, nothing happens - I get green light and blank screen. I have tried holding right shoulder button when I put the battery in but no joy. Can someone please tell me what I have missed. I have read loads of threads to try and sort myself but a lot of them refer to dead links. I'm sure I'm missing something!

Many thanks

Sounds like your doing what I'd do, It could be that the screen is fcuked! Does the MS light flash so it's reading the MS?

Does the Pandora Bat work fine in your PSP?

Works fine on mine but just green light and blank screen on his.

Can anyone confirm what Hejira is saying - is this a faulty screen issue?

Thanks

Is your magic memory stick properly formatted? I had an issue where mine wasnt so I couldnt boot the PSP off it. Try it in your own PSP and see if boots with the pandora. If it doesnt, use mspformat (google it) to format your memory stick on an XP machine and put the memory stick files back on. That should sort it. If it does boot in yours, but not your m8s, if its a slim you could have an unflashable model.

I have tried the memory stick and battery in mine and it works fine. In his all I get is the green light and nothing happens. Both are old fat models. He was on 3.52 I think, before it packed in. I have now made two pandoras and they both work in mine but nothing happens with his so I'm at a bit of a loss!

if they are both the same and you wanted to be sure its the screen. you could take your one out and put it in the faulty psp. It would then tell you if the screen is gone which saves you the money ordering one to find thats not the problem.

If it was the screen id expect the psp to still have the card reading lights flashing away when you turn it on. also do you get any sound? should be something when it goes through the menus

u will probably find if the card doesnt flicker when putting in battery and holding LEFT trigger ,and it works fine on urs that his psp isnt picking up ur card properly.
wether screen broken or not ,the card should still flash.
try pressing in the card a little while putting battery in and holding left trigger.
akward i know.

Thanks guys, I will give that a go, appreciate your help.

No, I've tried the memory stick pushing it in but nothing! I notice that the switch for wireless mode appears to be broken - would that explain things at all?

Just to update other than the green light coming on the PSP seems dead - no noise even with game in UMD. No flashing orange light either. Before I start cannibalising his PSP for buttons and the like I would like to be sure it is beyond repair! I appreciate your time and any advice.

I think the only thing you haven't confirmed to us is does the Memory Stick Light flash when you first put the pandora bat in?

Can you hold the power button up (normally abit longer than you'd expect) until the green light goes out?

Then Turn on by power button and watch to see if MS light flashes and if screen does anything @ all, if MS Light flashes then it's reading memory stick you know ya pandora bat is ok, which would make me think possibly screen, but I'm assuming screen prob on bases of elimination!

As suggested you could swap screen's to check, but I don't know how involved this is (never had to do it myself) but I'm sure someone would be able to guide you through.

Memory stick light does not flash when I put pandora bat in. I can hold the power button up and the green light will go out but nothing from MS light at all. I have tested the pandora in my PSP and it is fine. Thanks for your help, I wasn't doubting what you were saying originally - just fishing for ideas. There are some great minds on this site - sadly mine isn't one of them!

is the power lead out when trying, just a thought and probably is

No worries m8 no offence taken! LOL

Sounds like maybe not the screen then as it dosn't seem to be reading MS, sorry I'm now out of my depth! (def the right thing to question my logic LOL)

Hopefully JTH will be able to give you a course of action, Shame to write off an Original PHAT PSP!

@Bro - yes power lead out - I think I must have tried every combination of buttons too!

@Hejira - thanks for the advice, lets hope JTH can give me the answer!

Thanks guys, I'll give that a go. Really appreciate all your time and suggestions. I'll pass on anything I learn from this. :]

Sorry peeps, I did promise to feed back on this but I obviously forgot. I bought new part as suggested and fitted it - to my considerable surprise the PSP worked afterwards absolutely fine. Thanks for all the help, sorry its taken so long to update! Hopefully this will confirm for others with similar problem.
