My neighbour has given me a PS3 to fix. He said it wasnt reading discs and later found out it wasnt taking in discs because he has opened it up.
i purchased the full laser deck (kem-410aca). i put it all together and it took the disc in and started spinning up :).

THEN.

I pressed the eject button and all i got was a grinding noise. :Angryfire

NOW.After many assemblys and dissasemblys theres a blue light on constantly(the drive thinks theres a disc in there).

I managed to get rid of the blue light yesterday ???? but know i cant get it to go off. I've heard it could be the cable that connects
the drive to the mainboard.

hi mate, Like all the drives I've seen if they are not put together properly then they will either not eject, or not take a disc, take it apart again and you'll see the white plastic lugs that need to be slotted into the respectful holes for it all to work. If you take the drive lid off you should be able to see how the mechanism works when you load or eject a drive, I'd say more of a drive physical error than a cable, just a hunch.

try taking it apart like the one in the picture and seeing if you get it to play, it could be eject sensor that's shot with the machine trying to eject the disk and it being in the wrong position.

I took a few apart and the odd one that I dissembled a drive I never put together properly even though it all slotted together fine, just the white plastic lugs were not seated correctly.

Here's a drive with the lid off, and you can see how they go together, try it like this below and you'll see how it works....

SORTED

I have spent easily 15 hours on this. Assembled and disasembled the drive countless times. :Angryfire

THE SOLUTION. I pressed the data cable connector tightly at the back of the blueray drive and noticed that the blue light disapeared,

Ive ordered a new cable because taping it down with double sided tape doesnt seem to work.

I AM THE MAN. OH YES. LOL

Anyone who has got problems with there bluray drive let me know and i fix it. I reckon i have at least acquired an HND on ps3 bluray drives.

cheers for your input dibbs, alot of shy people out there, lol.

great! well done mate, I would have bet money on it being mecahnical rather than the cable, but hey "Live and learn"

Top work, glad your sorted mate.
