Hi all

After fixing one ps3 i have been handed another one....:Mad2:

Anyway it does not boot up at all, i get what's in the thread title above ??

Any ideas

Cheers

Sounds like YLOD, they all the same once they go.....

Good luck buddy.

seen a few of these ,and would like to know the outcome.
as been said above its similar to ylod but is not really as the ps3 wont turn on ,even to get disk out trick
maybe more the cpu and not the gpu at fault.

Well stripped it down and heated up board with bog standard heat gun (was hot as f**k...lol).

Put it all back together and found i had nothing at all when pressing both eject/power button !!!

Checked power supply and had no 12v ? Had 5v ok.

Opened up power supply and noticed there is a relay that needs to energise to give 12v. Sorted pins on small plug on power supply and it kicked in ok.

Checked board and power contact and found i had slighly melted the small ribbon cable.

Just fitted new and it has booted up fine....

BUT when i put disc in it spins up and does not load ??

Good work on the dedication to the cause man.

Does it play DVD's? could be just the laser, I had a one that was a dual laser and that went just after a re-ball, bought some
Isopropyl Alcohol, cleaned the lens and away she went.

Good luck mate

Will try one now, i have opened the blu ray unit and can see a blue laser light and spinning up fine.

I also remember another ribbon cable on the board, not sure what it was for though, i could of easily of melted that one as well ?

They look normal when damaged by heat, it is only when unlug them that you can see slight damage/open circuit.
