Fixed YLOD but now fan in overdrive....

Hi guys, been messing around with old fat ps3's for a while now but this one got me baffled.

40gb fat with ylod. reflowed & put the as5 on as usual, it now boots up fine but whilst booting the fan goes from stage 1 to 2 to 3 to take off mode then says system too hot before shutting itself off.

have tried reaplying the as5 in case i had put 2 little / much but is still the same.

any ideas??

think i should do the heat gun again?

Chuck it on ebay m8, I have one here that lasts for 3 hours before YLOD.

some times after a thermal change it can take a little while for it to "seat" in as to speak, how longs it doing it for?

i have left it untouched for a few days now, going to power it up in the next few hours nd will report back if still the same.....

Just powered it up & still in hyperdrive mode......lol (lasted about 30 seconds this time)

looks like ill have to get the good old heat gun out again & try another reflow... 8-(

It doesn't work bud, I have one I have reflowed 3 times and it does the same thing everytime. I think the fan control is faulty on them.

think you could be right, did a reflow today nd the bloody ylod has come back....lol

I have fixed a few ylod consoles before so was thinking perhaps i didnt heat the chips for long enough, anyroad will give it a power up tomorow nd if still faulty then will probably pop it back on the bay as faulty....

Infact i have a couple atm that i have fixed but all without working bluray drives. You are very lucky if you get one with a working bluray drive..... 8-(
one of them is on the 3.10 firmware with the install other operating system option. Will be poping that one back on ebay as i dont have enough posts yet to put it on here..8-(
