The chaps at Entertainment Weekly have blown the dust off the eagerly anticipated and long-rumored third instalment in the Uncharted series – titled Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
Hotly tipped for a showing at this week’s Spike Video Game Awards, Uncharted 3 will indeed take place in the desert as previously reported, specifically the vast wastelands of the Rub’ al Khali Desert, and focuses on Drake’s relationship with long time chum Victor “Sully” Sullivan as he embarks on a quest to unearth a legendary lost city.
“When we first came up with the idea of sand, you see everyone’s eyes light up here and go, ‘Yeah, that’s going to be really hard — let’s do it!’,” commented Naughty Dog writer, Amy Hennig.
Meanwhile, the studio’s co-president, Evan Wells, added: “We’re a bunch of nerds. We just look forsomething that will be a technical, artistic challenge, and allowed us to push into an area of the world and history we’ve never tapped into before.”
Apparently, the team are looking to invest more in the game’s multiplayer component this time around, with Wells commenting, ““We want to take on the big boys of the multi-player genre.”
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is pencilled in for release in late 2011 exclusively for PlayStation 3. Be sure to hit the link for all the gossip plus a tantalizing teaser video. Expect more news from VGAs this weekend.
