file system is corrupted!!

hi guys just turned on the ps3 an its giving me a message saying:

''The hard disc's file system is corrupted and will be restored''

ive selected ok an ran the restore the ps3 then restarts and still getting same message

is there any1 who can help me fix this problem please?

i know the console isnt 12 months old yet but the fella i bought it off got it free with a mobile phone an he hasnt paid the phone bill, do u think that wil make a diff if i contacted sony over the prob?

doubt it the warrenty is with sony not the phone shop. sony wont be bothered.

im not to keen on taking console apart an taking HDD out!!

ill contact sony in the mornin an see wot they say

a quick look around suggests formatting the hdd in a pc or another ps3 (not sure what another ps3 can do yours cant?) it isnt that hard to remove a ps3 hdd it even has instructions on how to do it in the ps3 user manual. better than waiting for a refurb or worse waiting for a repair.

I had this problem with the boys. The missus phoned the sony 10p a minute line and the operator talked her through a procedure and got it working again, data lost but thats better than buying and installing a new hard drive.

Try Sony first.

luckily the ps3 is designed to have the hdd removed easily theres a slot on the side of the console that comes off
