I'm not so sure, I know that most publishers and developers reckon it'll happen and they're obviously all for it. But I just can't see them cutting out physical discs entirely in favour of digital media because of the simple fact that not everyone has online.

I think it might get to a stage where online digital downloads are commonplace over second hand retail stores maybe, but I just can't see it.

I think if anyone's going to lead the way on this one it could well be Microsoft, looking already on Xbox Live Marketplace a lot of their best games are on there for purchase and download. But it's feasible for their games because their games are only 8gb on average, not anywhere from 17gb-50gb found on Sony's games.

The next wave of consoles will be very interesting to see what's tried out and what directions they all go in, personally I think we'll also have a new competitor as well in Apple. And if they do jump in then I think they'd do very well this time.

nah it wont happen,i agree with you that digital downloads may get popular they will never replace physical media, sony already tried that and it flopped massively

people like to have something to show for there money spent

as for apple joining the consoles,i really really hope they dont, the last thing we need are apple fanboys ,apples restriction, well just apple in general-i know bill gates was a bit of a tool

but i could happily punch steve jobs in the face repeatedly

Lmao quality stuff.

I must say that if Apple did enter the console "wars" it might spread the competition a little thin from our perspective if that makes sense ? Like I don't know about you but I think 3 main consoles on the market is more than enough in my view, especially when they're all pilfering each other's ideas. I'm not sure there's enough room for 4 on the market. And does anyone really want 4 sets of fanboys bickering next time ? I sure don't.

I'd rather play my consoles and appreciate them for what they are rather than constantly bitch about the console war and the companies involved. I've done it before don't get me wrong but it's pointless and boring after about 5 minutes because it's the same points being brought up, same shit being slung and there's never an end to it. A bit like conspiracy theories in a way, fun for a while but got no legs.

For me now it's like wake me up next time and let's see if the game's changed.
