ok so i decided to finish uncharted 2 since id finished everything else i wnated to

i tried it before ,thought it was ok but nothing great-but with lots of folk fawning about it calling it best game ever n such i thought id give it another go

now as a whole i enjoyed the game,it has decent graphics and exellent voice acting but thats all it had that stood out

the gameplay was tired and same old thing, the collision detection on occasion was shocking, the amount of times i had to restart because i was stuck inside a table or behind a wall or something similar-then there are the cartoon moments where i had left the edge of something then proceeded to jump while stood in mid air

and the controls more than once were annoying clunky and not good, reminding me of the movement controlls in heavy rain

as stated i enjoyed the game overall but it certainly isnt one of the best ive played and i just dont understand why it got soo much hype and folks fawning over it

i thought the 2nd one was good, but the first one for me was better probably purely because i didnt expect it to be anywhere near as good as it was, in terms of story, graphics gameplay etc and i got it on budget for only a few sheckles.

So in the 2nd one i kinda knew what to expect and thought it was a little shorter than the first.

I never managed to play it online so i dunno about that side of the game.

I think it proves a certain point that the people who dislike this game are few and far between to say the least, not to mention that even the die hard xbots praise this game says a lot too and indeed all of it's game of the year awards etc....

I have to ask are there any console games you do like - Halo, Gears, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Motorstorm anything ? or do you stick to a dead gaming platform (that being the pc) in an old habits die hard kind of thing.

Reason I ask is because you can't understand why people fall over themselves over Uncharted - yet I remember you calling the original Uncharted nothing more than Tomb Raider with a bloke - yet nothing could be further from the truth as the games are nothing like each other, and I know this because I've played them both recently. They are worlds apart when you actually sit down and play them that's for sure.

And quite how you came to the conclusion that Uncharted 2 graphics were only decent and the gameplay tired in only it's second outing I do not know. I'd be curious to know actually because I think you're just burying it for the sake of it. The in game crumbling building sequence? The real time train sequence? They were firsts in gaming as far as I know as previously stuff like that was a cut scene or in the train sequence case you weren't actually moving through a level you were going past the same building or rock formation over and over again - and before you say it Half Life intro doesn't count as that was an in game cut scene and not full flow gameplay shootout time.

As for why people fawn over this game it's simple - it's a brilliant game and evidently the majority of people both the gaming public as well as journalist critics both feel it's the best game to come out on any platform in 2009. And for me it's easy to see why. Though in my honest opinion for me the original was better I certainly preferred it and I always felt that game never got the appreciation that it deserved and I was proven right with all of Uncharted 2's praise and awards.

I've still not played it :(

I suggest that ViolentJ donates it to me.

:)

it may only be the second outing for this game but ive played many similar games, and to me its tired-and the first thing that came to mind with the first game when i played it,was tomb raider with a bloke

when it was working it worked well, but i honestly felt i had seen it all before

there are plenty of console games i like, but they are generaly geared to my taste and a fair few get slated ,but i like them, uncharted 2 has been fawned over and recommended to me by a few people, which is why i gave it another go and finished it,but when its had such a build up and ended up being noware near as good as i was expecting its hard to see why it has the rep it has

you seem to think im burying it and that im saying its bad-im not-i just dont think its the game its made out to be

and just for completness sake i dont like halo, gears got really old really fast, motorstorm is the best racing game ive ever played, zelda i liked on the n64 and gc(wind walker) but i hated it on wii, metroid ive never tried, mario lol ive always prefered sonic-current gen games ive really enjoyed-just a few not gunna list em all
heavy rain
god of war 1,2 and 3

alone in the dark inferno
oblivion(not a genre i normally play)

I disagree, I think VJ....erm.....I-Zombie should donate it to me :)

I really enjoyed the first one and a guy in work has promised me a loan of the second one.

To be honest I like all the COD series but i don't play them online, I'm more of a FIFA & Tigers Woods sporty online player. Shoot em up's online get on my tits :)

This said, Uncharted is the only game i've enjoyed apart from COD and i'm still looking forward to playing the second one.

I never bought Heavy Rain, I liked the demo but never got round to buying the game, I notice that places are selling it for £25 already so might take the plunge, I want to play uncharted 2 first though.

PS: I'm still pissed from last night :)

Okay clearly that's how you judged the original but one thing I'd like to point out is what is the worst part of any Tomb Raider game and also what you happen to do throughout 80% of them games - platforming and combat, and conversely what are the best parts of Uncharted which you do throughout 80% of them games - again platforming and combat. So then how are the games not worlds apart when you play them ? Keep in mind I'm not saying they aren't similar creatively of course they are, both treasure hunters, temple plundering, jungle traipsing type games but those are where the similarities start and end.

Regarding the fact that you honestly felt you'd seen it all before well you'd have to level that same criticism at most games but especially any game that's ever had a sequel. That's one of those statements where you can't pick and choose a game to level it on in all fairness.

I don't like Halo or Gears either to be honest, I love Motorstorm (Pacific Rift esp) though for me it's not the best racing game I've ever played - for me that honor goes to Burnout3 Takedown that was an instant classic. But I'm surprised at your comments on Zelda, Ocarina Of Time is probably my most clocked game ever along with MGS, I've liked them all even Twilight Princess but the Zelda games all of them are basically the same game just presented differently each time.....so I'm surprised you like one but hate the other.....

you seem to think im burying it and that im saying its bad-im not-i just dont think its the game its made out to be

That's fair enough m8, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. Me I'm the opposite, for me Uncharted is the 1 game that is exactly what it's made out to be. And honestly from my experience it's hands down the best single player game I've played (Pro Evo multiplayer sesh on PS2 bests Uncharted2 multiplayer though) on any platform in two console generations since Ocarina Of Time on the N64. Strange thing is I've never liked Tomb Raider though but I loved Uncharted. Probably because Tomb Raider is bland and shocking controls by comparison.

I don't believe it!

lol, 3 minutes too late.

If Baaheid dies or something, then I'll have it. :)

i think hand me downs help give uncharted 2 a better rating, imagine it for a tenner! i paid £10 for the 1st one as it was in the budget pile lol and i bought the 2nd of a mate for £15 lol

I always question value for money first even if we were talking about a curry at the local indian lol

Personally i beat it too quickly i only played it about 5 times granted i kept hammering away at it but did think it was short.

On eBay, I paid £5.10 for Uncharted and £6 for Killzone 2. :)

ooh, and only today I won Little Big Planet for £6.50

3 great games for less than 1 from the 'Platinum Range'. :)
