ps2 not spinning

hi I have just replaced the laser and motor on my son's ps2 but all I get when I turn it on is a brief red flash of the laser and no spin.Could anyone please help.

Thanks Spud1966 had a look but still dead.Is the red light supposed to be strong when I put a disc in because mine is just a brief weak flash and than nothing.The laser goes up and down but that's just about it.I'm thinking it's the end for the ps.

well if you have loads of games for it m8 you can get them for about 20 pound in the second hand shops ..

could a dodgy mod chip cause this.it's been chipped for the last 5 years maybe it's gone. but I do have a few games which the kids like better than the wii, so I probably will end up getting another. But thanks for your help.

if i can remember on these consoles they have either 2 or 3 switches under the door you close, check them and try again mate.
