ps1 to ps2 memory card

hi guys ! my little boy has asked me to find out why it is when he plays hes ps2 games and saves onto the memory card its ok but when he plays some of hes ps1 games ( which he tends to do quiet often it wont save on the memory card !on the ps2 it comes up saying card not inserted and need a card formated...he ha tried putting a ps1 memory card onto the ps2 and still no joy! any help and advice will be very much appreciated thank you!!

You need to use a PS1 memory card to be able to save PS1 games. Why your PS1 card doesn't work I do not know but it should. Do you have another to try?
PS2 cards will definately not work.
