Winrar bug being exploited

Read more HERE, sounds like it's time to remove my old 3.9 version.

hmm I have a 3.8 version, that don't sound good.

I'm going to try 7zip see how I get on with it.

Uninstalled WinRAR and installed 7zip, just to be on the safe side.

Been using 7Zip for ages now and even our corporate IT department deem it safe for all users.

Only problem I seem to find with it is file association although there's probably a setting somewhere. Although it's the only archive utility (apart from Win7 built-in one) it doesn't associate itself with all archives.

Now detected by 29 av or malware programs. I only use BitDefender and Malwarebytes and both pick up the hi.exe file

My installed earlier version prompted update last week so now at latest 5.7 version reported not to be vulnerable.
