Lads, my Dyson DC25 has a fault and wonder if I am on the right track with the fix. Vacuuming a mat and the machine brush stopped, nothing unusual about that, it was designed to do it, so I press the brush reset button (grey) next to the on/off switch (red). Nothing happens, after 2 or 3 minutes of trying different things I go through 1, remove the brush, clean and refit. 2 remove the plate at the side of the ball where the upright switch is, check the wiring and switch is ok. 3 remove the cover and check the on/off and reset switches are fine.

When I try it now the brush will work at a certain angle from vertical but only for a very particular angle and goes off either side of that, if that makes sense. The switch is easily replaced and only ยฃ5

Am I on the right track or could it be the mechanism that engages the switch or something else?

TIA.

@avid, correct, spot on mate, I didn't check the wires behind the small retaining hook next to the upright switch and sure enough the white one was damaged. I've put a crimp on with mole grips! a little crude but it works.WP_20181215_18_46_14_Pro.jpgWP_20181216_09_08_41_Pro.jpg

@willin Arrrh the satisfaction you get when you fix something that someone else would have either binned or paid through the nose for.
Priceless. Glad you sorted it ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

How long have you have this hover as you don't say in your first post, dyson have a 2 year warranty is it still covered?

They stopped making the DC25 in 2011...

Cheers, that's exactly what the wife would have done
