I just checked and I am on 5.05. I've disabled my auto updates and just waiting for it to be available in 5.05.

looking about on the subject there is a WebKit exploit for your firmware but this will not jailbreak

so i would just wait a bit for the kernal exploit to come out

5.05 exploit is now available. Just tried and got mine working

Typical my friends son is 5.55. Fingers crossed there an exploit for that at some point.

Ask him to turn off the automatic downloads. Thats way he can stay on 5.55 until its ready.

Yes it's very easy to do. Hardest part is finding a good site to download games from.

yes but your firmware has to be 5.05 or under to run exploit

What size are the games? And are they played off a HDD or burnt to BR-D?

depends on the game , some are only 2GB and some are 53GB you play them from HDD

I use an external usb caddy and works well.

Might be worth getting one now.

My system software screen shows that an update file has been downloaded. Would I still be on old software until I install the downloaded one or is that automatic and I am already on 5.55?

If it had downloaded but not installed, you could have used the exploit to run FTP and then delete the downloaded 5.50. But unfortunately once upgraded, it cannot be downgraded. I believe they are working on the 5.50 exploit.

In the meantime, you can turn off the automatic updates and then remain on 5.50.

yes look at the video and put in the DNS numbers this will block and new updates

I just used the apptousb and copied the games to an external usb drive as I was running out of space on the internal drive. Seems to work well.
