Hi Guys

Was involved in an accident this morning.
It was the other womans fault (i think).
Its only a few hundred pounds worth of damage on each car (less than the excess)
By the time I've rang the woman this evening to tell her lets sort it out without the insurance companies, she's already gone and blabbed everything to them.

Is that it? Are we past the point of no return? Will this go down as a mark against both of our policies?

Would appreciate any advice

You are supposed to disclose all accidents even if you dont make a claim. If it was her fault i would go down the insurance route. If it was her fault you wont lose your no claims and you will be able to claim back any un insured loss (your excess , hire car , etc) from the other party.

I didn't know that I was obliged to inform the insurance company.
Whoops.
Tbh, I rang her tonight and she told me that the insurance company told her that she's not to drive the car as its not road worthy.
Wtf, the headlamp glass was smashed.... ive even got a photo of it. That's all!
Not road worthy my a$$

So if is a smashed front light and i assume you did not reverse into her then it must be her fault ;)

its not road worthy as the smashed light is a mot fail and police could stop her for it

That makes sense.
I thought an mot fail was if both lights are gone, fair enough.

I've taken advice from an accident management person and he says it might still be my fault.
I was coming out of a junction turning right, bus was blocking my vision so was inching out very slowly.
I didn't get far before she came zooming past, overtaking the bus, straight into the corner of my car.
The accident management guy said it will always be the fault of the person coming out of the junction, thats just how the insurance people see it.

Who knows.

If you were pulling out a side road and she was on the main road, it is your fault

You will not be able to prove any speeding offences unless the police were called and measured skid marks etc. which they will not have done as no one was hurt.

No but it will be taken into consideration when you renew your car insurance even though you weren't at fault and your premiums will go up, this I do know

im am also curious about who fault it is.

a few years back i was coming out of a T junction and going up right. another car coming down the hill had their indicator on to turn onto the road i was on and flashed me to come out. as no car was behind the car coming down(so i thought), i pulled out and when nearly completed turning a guy on a bike just missed hitting me while over taking the car coming down that was turning left. The guy on the bike was going at a ridiculous speed if he had hit me no doubt he would of been dead.

who faults would of that been? In theory he was on the wrong side of the road when over taking the car.

car hire i couldnt get it when a guy crash in to me last year and i couldnt get car hire myself. lost out on a weeks work €€. if i didnt have the money to pay the mechanic myself i would of been waiting weeks for the insurance to pay out to get back on the road.

In the below cases you are to blame unless you can PROVE negligence in the other party and even then you may still be to blame or it could go knock for knock.

1) Driving into the back of another car
2) Reversing into another car
3) Hitting or being hit, while pulling out of a side road i.e a road that has the broken line (give way) mark on the road.

Even if someone flashes you to indicate the road is clear it is your responsibility as the driver to make sure that is the case

I have a cam in the front and back, you'd be surprised how many bumpershaggers back off when they see the glint of the rear cam. There's no argument if he rear ends me tyres n tarmac

Ah, but did they check his underpants for clues?.🤔😉
