From the many, many reviews on youtube of these printers, they do seem like a very good bargain buy. But one thing is very clear you do have to put a lot of work into upgrading them and setting them up before you get good prints.

Great if you are into kit building DIY projects and upgrading, very daunting if not.

Also be aware that these come from china, and with the weight of the package it's quite certain it will get gripped for import duties and tax, which may add another £24 VAT and maybe duty as well.

Fair enough. I see it's £114 from China, so £5 extra to make sure you don't pay import duties is ok.

Unless they run out of stock like they did with one of my deliveries and send it from China anyway, they said nothing until I contacted them to ask why it was taking so long to arrive. Luckily there was not VAT to pay etc.. even though it was an expensive item (which is why I ordered it from the UK warehouse in the first place).

Quite a lot of stuff that Gearbest send out does come from China in a container with tons of other stuff, then they send it using Royal Mail from a distribution center down south, that way it look good.

They also do the same thing when sending stuff from the EU warehouse.

I've been dealing with several of these Chinese sites for years both on a personal level and as a re-seller/dropshipper. Gearbest do seem to be one of the better ones.
