Now that the hardware limits on my TM 2600 motor have been 'removed', I'm now able to swing my dish around to 57e and beyond.

I'd been wanting for some time to receive Duhok TV on NSS 12 at 57 east but I hadn't realised just how hard a catch it was going to be. This is presumably because it's located on a DVBS2/MPEG4 transponder with parameters of 111.88V, 1.774 on the Middle Eastern beam.

However, at times, I've been able to get it to temporarily lock at just 32% signal quality. This morning, I've been getting up to 48% with a bit of nudging but before I can take a pic it drops quickly down to something like 42%.

SW UK 75-85% on TM5402 TD110 cm dish and inverto black ultra lnb.

It's really strange that there's such a phenomenal difference in our achievable signal qualities. I'm based in the NW of England and using the same combination of TD110 and IBU.

I wonder if anyone else up here could check to see what they're able to get with this transponder. It could, of course, be that my dish needs a little tweaking or the line of sight may be partially blocked by a house roof across the road from me.

We get about 80% here in NW on an 80cm/bu on tm5402hd m1/2s bit higher on M3s -

if it wobbles when windy - try to check line of sight for trees as chimneys don't usually wobble

you could try 57.1 57.2 57.3 57.4 etc. or the other way, sounds wrong but if it is just a tree or chimney you can often peak a signal just to one side of the obstruction.

Pretty sure it's a line of sight problem with a particular chimney in the way.

I was thinking there's not much I could do about it but there is some scope for my dish to go higher up on the wall. On its present L-shaped mount, the motor etc could in fact slide up roughly two inches higher without need perhaps for re-positioning the wall mount itself. Is this likely to have any significant effect on the line of sight situation bearing in mind I can 'almost' achieve a stable lock at present?
