Software Blue screen of death

I changed out the cmos battery and gave it a once over with the hoover and switch clean. I wont know for a few days if it's done the trick

Well that didn't help it just crashed again and that was after replacing the cmos battery. I'm now thinking about replacing the paste on the processor see if that helps because now I'm lost
its a Lenovo Thinkcentre M90z

did you try running "who crashed" it may give you a better idea of whats wrong.

I couldn't see anything by reading the thread but it it random or when you are doing something specific @silverdale.

Id be checking power supply voltages if not possible borrow a psu from someone or somewhere to try it.
Good call here. Had similar happen to my No.2 pc last year. Kept getting the odd BSOD but wasn't overly concerned until it got to the point where it wouldn't boot up at all.
Found my psu tester and sure enough it started bleeping at me, a replacement providing the cure.
Not saying a replacement will definitely cure yours but if you could test as Ferret suggests, it may save you some time.

strange how it happens now and then , you have tried Hirens HDD Regenerator 1.71 ,worth a shot and see if you have any bad sectors on your HD

@silverdale :)

Download BlueScreenView - MajorGeeks
can be an easy way to view the mini dumps too. Some electrolytic caps can fail and cause weird erratic behavior if you can't nail it down. Also, running memtest86 is a good way to blitz data across the CPU and RAM and check for stability.
