After being around for 32 years and becoming one of the most recognized elements of the Windows operating system, Microsoft is planning to kill off graphics app Paint. The Redmond firm has threatened to depreciate the long-running program in the next Windows 10 update.

Paint will just be getting moved to the App store they have now said.

why remove it at all?

It's usefull enough and i would imagine its pretty lightweight compared to the rest of the operating system..

I prefer using paint.net myself. So not going to miss it

My Win 10 has updated to the so-called Creators Edition. Paint is still there but now there's Paint 3D. Probably very clever in what it does but I like the simplicity of Paint. (Like the original Word- they ruined that with too many whistles & bells). I use Paint quite often to reduce the filesize of images. I cannot see that function in Paint 3D.

paint.net or linux windows crap had its day

I was put off by the name, the '.net ' part made me think it was an online editor like Picassa- that's OK here during the day but at night time our internet speed drops like a lead brick so very difficult to do anything online (even Gmail struggles!).
BUT now I see it's a downloadable app I will give it a try, as I agree, the less reliance on MS the better ;)
