The problem I am having with my pc is this. I switch on said pc and it goes through the entire start and boots up. Then usually when I press to start a game it switches off and won't come back on there is no life at all. I thought it was blowing a fuse so I changed the fuse and it fired up. So after that when it did it again I went to the fuse and it worked. But after running out of 5amp fuses I ran some 5 amp fuse wire I had across the gap till I could get to the shop the next morning. So when it went again on start up the next morning I opened up the plug and the fuse wire is fine. This has led me to discover that when it goes I just unplug it and plug it backin and it fires up. The only thing I have changed recently is I put and extra HDD in it so obviously I have tried taking the power lead away from the new hdd and finally now have disconected the ide cable from it too. This problem only occurs on start up and usually only once then it starts ok but it does it every time I start it up (initially) without fail.

Hi PB ;)
Most likely the PSU is on its way out m8, I've had simular things to this in the past & it was the 5v from the PSU failling....(not with my Enermax PSU's I hasen to add...)

Have Fun

Had same problem myself . It also turn out to be the Power Supply :(
I was using a cheapo Qtec at the time. Never happened since I changed it. Now have a Tagen 480w.

Have to agree with all the replies so far.............

However, if this only started to happen after your new HDD, it could be that which caused the problem in the first place.

A HDD will most likely cause the 12V rail to fail unless you have a PS with "crowbar" protection.

Thanx it was the power supply so the cheap crap has been replaced with a quality item. And thanx for the loan LG ur a gent.

I had a similar problem with my PC the other night. I had the BSOD for an unrelated reason, turned the PC off and tried to turn it back on again. No life at all. As soon as I flipped the mains switch and tried again, it was fine. Never waited around to find out if it'd happen again but it was going fine for the couple days after until I swapped it for an old one I had spare.
