hi all . I have a packard bell club 50 400ghz . My question is i have been told by a m8 of mine that i can up the speed of my pc from 400ghz by going into the bios setting and changing the ghz setting to 1000 ghz & that will speed up my pc to 1000 ghz is this true? or is he taking the pxxs?. or is he right? will doing this harm my pc ? many thank;s

I am no expert, but would have thought most unlikely to get that much extra out of it.

Like any tweak or overclocking you take the risk ... if it fries your cpu or other components or any form of damage that is at your risk.

If you are going to attempt any form of overclocking advise you to add extra fans ... the cooler it is the better chance of no damage (not guaranteed though)

no m8 its not true. if u can overclock the cpu and motherboard i would think u would get an extra 50-100mhz out of it but over clocking shortens the life of ur cpu and u would need a decent fan as well.

u can buy a new motherboard and AMD Duron cpu (about 900mhz)for under £100 now so maybe u should save those pennies instead m8.

just ask if u need any more info

Watch out if you take the new mboard and cpu option as packard bell computers are not that compatable with other mboards how ever you could also buy a new case and harvest the parts ie hdd cdrom etc

speed

If i get a new mother board & new processor & a new case i might as well buy a new pc it would be cheeper lol sorry i asked lol thank;s all the same for the advice
