Optical mouse not turning off ?

I switched my mouse last night for an optical mouse with a scroll wheel that lights up. Works fine except I woke up this morning and noticed something blue shining in my room and looked across and saw the scroll wheel on the mouse still lit up but the tower was switched off

It still draws power through the tower for the scroll wheel until I turn everything off at the plug. Is this normal? Just found it a bit weird...

That's normal. Most people don't realise that when you shut down your 'puter the motherboard is still live unless you turn off mains supply.

most motherboards have a jumper that can disable power to ps2 or usb connections when the pc is powered down have a look in your motherboard manual or if you dont have one you can download one from the manufacturers website
if your not sure what mainboard is fitted goto www.belarc.com and download the free adviser tool this gives you a complete rundown of your system from hardware to software
the mainboard normally also gives you the model number written on it somewhere although they dont always have the manufacturer just google the model number and you will find it
