I've got a Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop running Winxp with an ATI Mobility RADEON X300 display card and I've downloaded High Definition demos fro the windows site to try on my HD tv but I can't get the displys to run using the right colours. I can't get the display to run at 256 colours. I've tried looking for a driver but it reports that there is no newer driver for the default monitor. Can anyone help?

try start/run/dxdiag and see if there are any problems under display, also check in device manager and try uninstalling/reinstalling the graphics driver.

Go to ATi's site and download the graphics driver from there rather than relying on the default Windows drivers.

It sounds like your're currently running using the native Windows XP video drivers, for HD demos thought you'd want more than 256 colours so you need to check to make sure that the correct drivers for video card are installed.
