ok cheers for that m8 av heard a few people sayin that now i just wanted to ask on here to be sure thanks again bud

Soz MH,its just i remember when i posted about getting a TINY pc i was told to keep well away........ :) but if your dads has been going for 8 yrs they cant be that bad

a dont no if any of you guys rember thomson that used to use DW he has a tiny pc and his has no prob and he is a right fussy so and so but av spoke to a few peeps outside DW and they said the had a load a problems off them so a think a will give them a miss this time to many bad reports for my likeing

All the components we Intel, the HD was a western dig, got upgraded to a bigger one.

Matsushita dvd drive, voodoo 3000 3dfx graphics card...all top noth stuff:)

i think it was more a case of poor customer support .rather than the actual computers not being up to standard .

I've got a Tiny PC downstairs I was given a while ago that's almost 10 years old and it's still going. There's a couple of problems with it though but I haven't bothered trying to sort them. Came to me with a hard drive with a failed write head and after putting a new hard drive in it's a bit dodgy after installing Windows 98. I would constantly get the dreaded blue screen even though it was a clean install. Tried to get Linux on there but I couldn't the GUI working but it might not have been a problem with the PC seeings it was my first go at installing Linux.

To be honest though, I'd avoid them now. They've only gotten worse from what they used to be.

its a bit like most things, its not if it works ok its if u get a problem were it causes the hassel.
ive been to look and repair a few friends time computers and as MH says in the main they do use recognised names for the parts.
if u are happy to upgrade your own computer and confident to look after once out of the year warrenty, then certainly look at it. Ask them to show u who manafactures are of the peice parts, many hdd have 3 year warranty's with manafacturer etc. dont have the five year warrenty a waste of money.
if ur not confident then about pulling apart and upgrading then to be honest i would get the spec like u have and go to a few independent shops and ask what they could do for u........

Price up the components individually and build it yourself m8. Trained monkeys can build pc's in our days. Tiny's kit isn't bad but as stated customer support is dire. If you build it yourself you've got a pretty good idea of how to repair it when it breaks saving mondo bucks in the future.

The main system sounds ok but the digi camera will not be the best and ive had a few setup problems in the past with them allin1 printer joby's and who uses fax or scanner that much ??. It is usually the support that lets you down with the likes of tiny and time they have had a bad reputation for a long time.

you can usually build or get built a better system yourself for a similar or cheaper price with parts from www.scan.co.uk or www.savastore.co.uk as someone above suggested.

usually systems from tiny or time have some weak/cheap parts in there to save on costs e.g. poor graphics, cheap dvd or keyboard / mouse.

For me, theres nothing wrong with the computers you get at tiny/dell etc. its just that for the same price you can get a much better system if you build yourself or possibly look around for bargains.

a think a will just try building 1 my self a probably could do it my self alot cheaper as i have a not to bad graphics card just now so thats a start its just a pain in the arse searching and searching for the cheapest parts and the good brands but a will get 1 in the end

is it true that the new operating system for windows dosnt work with the first 64bit chips that are out or is that a load of cobblers

Try sourcing all of your parts from one supplier. This will save you a fortune in delivery and prevent a confusing pile of reciepts to search through should you need the warranty. I've used ebuyer a lot and dabbs both are good although I prefer ebuyer. There are loads available, you pays your money and takes your cance as they say.

tinys are ok just a bit boring to look at and the collection/del service if it needs to be repaired is a joke.they lost mine for 6 weeks.next time im off to dell or somewhere but def not back to tiny
