The problem is I have a Acer XC-115 desktop and the factory installed bios is from 2014 and will not see a SSD .
It seems that the installed bios is the latest and was used in the transition between Win7 and win8 and was assigned a Bios ID that was associated with Linux OS and locked to it.
I have downloaded the latest normal Bios Rom from Acer and it fails with an Error message: failed incorrect Bios ID even though its correct for this machine. So I need to know how I can force an update with a different Bios ID.? ..Any help would be appreciated.

If you are ABSOLUTELY sure that you do have the correct ROM for your machine, I can't stress that enough before continuing.

I can't think of a soft way to do it without a bit of research.

First hardware hack that comes to mind requires a bios which lifts out of a socket as opposed to being directly soldered to the board. It also requires a clone machine with a willing participant who has a bios revision less than what you're trying to flash. You might persuade them by offering to update theirs during the process, but keep in mind the liability is on you as you work.

I've just eyeballed my 3yo board and the flash lifts.
The donor board requires that you boot to the flash program and then (VERY CAREFULLY!) lift the chip and put your one in. Initiating the flash, hoping it doesn't check the revision again.

Failing that, I'm sure you'll find a chip reader on the web and even a blank chip if you need it. The chip swap may work on a blank chip but you're still going to be booting with the invalid BIOS ID you started with.

The problem is not your bios, your laptop should have a jumper to lock the hardware, then if you change the hard drive the laptop doesn´t recognize it, you have to change the jumper, chech the manual or try to talk Acer support.

The OP has stated clearly it's a desktop, this can be confirmed by searching the model number they've supplied too.

Not sure what you're implying about locking down the hard drive with a jumper, I highly doubt it, though it can be easily proved / disproved. If the problem is that no HDD other than the original will go in, then you're right. However I suspect, many / most drives are working on this person's PC, but a specific model of SSD is not being detected. Which is an issue that will require BIOS updates, which is going to require fancier BIOS updates when your existing BIOS has a BIOS ID which prevents the flash program from continuing.

All info extrapolated from original post, I'm keen to get my post count up too but it's gotta be factual and helpful.
