Hi I have a problem with my Acer Aspire (running windows 10), when I start the laptop up it says preparing automatic repair and then goes to a blue screen it never gets further than this stage just the same loop over and over, anyone know how to fix this?

Use acer eRecovery press alt+f10 at startup, it should allow You to restore it to factory default. If You have data You need to save off get Yourself a copy of the ultimate boot cd, it will boot by itself and allow You to see Your hdd to save or burn stuff You have to save.

Thanks pal, I've tried to put it into recovery at start up but no luck.. Stupidly I had not set backups so can not recover anything do you have any idea where to purchase the boot cd's? Struggling to find them around online.

Have You gone into bios with f2 to check eRecovery is switched on, windows 10 and the basic setup should be saved on a separate hdd partition as factory standard. The model of Acer might help as well.

Sorry the model is Acer V3 771g, I have gone to the Bios but am not given an option for erecovery the original OS built into the system was Windows 8 but updated to windows 10 for free a couple of years back.

Look HERE it says that in bios main, there should be a setting called D2D recovery to enable. Now whether installing windows 10 has messed something up I can't say as it should restore to windows 8.

Very strange there is no D2D in my bios menu, I have been using Windows 10 for a good couple of years now so and only recently had this problem. Possibly thinking to re install windows 10 from a USB in bios.

Have You tried to boot up in safe mode or last known good configuration using f8 at startup?

Yes tried booting in safe mode but the same issue it always ends up on the blue screen saying 'Automatic repair your pc did not start correctly'.

I have tried to troubleshoot it and run the recovery software already on the system by using command prompt but no luck.

Starting to think this may be an issue with the operating system rather than the laptop itself as I can see the files on the hard drive.

Sorry for any confusion can't post any pics.

1. Remove the ram sticks (Clean with a soft lint free cloth while they are out)
2. Remove the power cord and battery
3. Hold the power button for 58 seconds
4. Replace everything.
