hi, I wonder if anyone has had this problem . my pc on startup comes up with The file is possibly corrupt the file does not match the computor checksum. I am running windows 10 with avira antivirus. I tried using the repair on the windows 7 inst disk but it cant find any backup on the pc, i believe its in the avira program. Any advise is welcome.

bit more info

The file is possibly corrupt

can you see what file is corrupt ?

have you tried to boot up in safe mode

I am sure you can figure out why the Windows 7 disc isn't working to repair your windows 10 install [emoji14]

You can download a Windows 10 installation disc from Windows 10 ISO and use that instead [emoji1360]

Checksum issues can often be resolved by resetting your CMOS. Fairly simple to do but look it up for your particular unit.

Maybe try and reset your motherboard BIOS? Or perhaps update it to the latest firmware? As Mike said above usually Checksum is usually related to CMOS.

as spud1966 said bit more info regarding the file it is reporting missing. Could also be due to a corrupt MBR which is pretty easy to sort but the exact error would help point you in the right direction :)

Checksum errors can be the cmos. Touch the rear (metal surface) of your computer to discharge any static in you. Unplug from power. Open the case and remove the Motherboard battery (a small disk shaped battery). Refit the battery after a short time and refit case cover. Power up and try again.
This resets the CMOS back to factory settings and hopefully your error is fixed.
If this doesn't work perhaps you can upload an image of the error shown.

Sounds like a hard drive problem? Do you have a solid state or regular HDD? What brand? Get some HDD diag tool burned to a USB / CD.

fonz hasn't updated since he's posted (2 months ago) so its either sorted or given up lol.

PC suggestions could cause problems for unfamiliar users. Not starting is usually a small issue. If you know anyone who has been using PCs for a long time or if a neighbour or friend of friend is good with PCs. I'd try someone handy before attempting to fix it yourself.
