Other seagate external hard drive............tryed to connect to dream box now cant be seen

as topic...........Tried to connect and format with my dm 800

now it cant be seen by either pc with windows on or the dm800

the computer makes a noise when its connect to show a usb device has been plugged in and the light comes on the external drive..........

its shown under device manager

If disk manager does not see it its not looking good.

Could be the electronics in the housing or the drive itself.

Is it possible you can remove the drive from its caddy to see if it shows up under disk management then ?

it was fine before i messed with it and the dreambox so i think its the formatting part from the dm800 thats stuffed it

I had this with a HDD connected to a VU Zero...
you need to go into disk management on your windows pc / control panel / system and Security / Administrative Tools and computer management...then choose disk management, look for your external HDD and delete the partition...then create a new partition and follow the instructions, once formatted and a drive letter has been assigned windows will see it again

Edit: sorry didnt see the bit about it not showing in disk management, in device manager you could try uninstalling it and reinstalling the drivers.
Is the USB cable ok?
