Any help appreciated

Under the service tab on the dynamic DNS page have you selected dyndns?

Also the ddns setting don havtto be in the home hub. I.e if you have a dvr another router nas drive ect the ddns would work from any of those also. I have had bother with home hubs before .

I have had no-ip working on them but sometimes ports don't forward the way they should for some reason .

I have just re read what you have wrote. Sorry I had just woken up. Port forwarding shouldn't have an effect on dyndns as far as I have seen. Are you sure you have the correct account settings?

Hi after much googling the problem seems to be with BT in so much as they have ip sharing and because their software controls the hub it effectively stops dyndns updating the ip will google some more today and post my findings.

I know the Updater works on the HH3 as i use to update mine with a No-IP account and the HH3 gave me zero problems, eventually though i binned it due to the fact that it is utter shite and extremely basic for most needs

If you use dyndns they have software that will run from your pc to update the ddns automatic through port 80 i think.

No-IP and most other DNS accounts also have updaters but that also means you have to have a PC/Laptop running most days to update the DNS thats the point of having stored in the router its on 24/7

All depends on what your trying to access. if its cctv then you're absolutely right but if its server / workstations ect then i would just use the software. I too have had issues with bts ddns so i use pfsense for better control.
