I am using Windows 8.1 64 bit (still waiting for my free Windows 10 upgrade) on a new Asus X555L laptop, I have been using Chrome as my main browser for some time without issue, but suddenly I keep getting 'couldn't load plugin' on some sites, I can view youtube videos fine, but other sites including my own web site which has a video plugin won't play, I have Googled extensively but cannot cure it, here it what i have done:
1) Checked to make sure only one flash player is installed.
2) Uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled it.
3) Updated Adobe Flash.

Here is a list of my plugins:

They are all active, but cannot see any problems.

Any ideas?

Chrome have stopped the use of unsigned plugins. And there were plans to change something else with the plugins to.

I have had this with my cctv and a couple of other sites.

I have just had to use Firefox for the sites with issues for now.

Can you provide link to a website you're having issues with?

Ok, I would try this...

1. Uninstall Chrome (again) but this time ensure any appdata has been removed also... Do this by deleting the "Chrome" folder (and all its files and other subfolders) located in, "C:\Users\lee\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome" and also "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome" and (if it exists) "C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome"
2. Uninstall flash player via control panel.
3. restart pc/laptop
4. (install if nesseccary) and Run CCleaner and click on 'Registry' and scan for issues then fix them.
5. restart pc/laptop again
6. install chrome and then flash player
7. restart pc/laptop again

Hopefully this works. If not, it's possible that an update or security feature/policy has caused this if it used to work.

Okay I have now fixed this issue, I tried all the suggestions here but nothing worked, this problem is quite widespread caused by a Flash update a few days ago, updating Chrome should have cured it, but for many people like me it hasn't.

I managed to find this simple fix on Google:

Navigate to the following file:

C:/users/yourname/appdata/Local/Google/Chrome/User%20Data/PepperFlash/19.0.0.226/

'yourname' is obviously replaced with your name, you will see a file called pepflashplayer.dll, rename it to say pepflashplayerX.dll, save and exit, relaunch Chrome and all should be well.

This is not a permanent fix but works for now.

My instructions would have done the same because I asked you to delete this very same "chrome" folder in this same location, and another folder for "chrome" stored in another location.

At least you have got it sorted :)
