Every time I insert my 32gb flash drive into my win 10 laptop it gets migrated to devices and printers and so I can't access it as a drive . Secure installer takes control of it I have not been able to change it under settings

Hi little_POB you could be onto something there because the SD card reader is showing as drive f even though it is empty and was removed correctly and nothing I do affects the f drive until I put an SD card into it

I tried changing the card reader to disk I and put the sandisk usb in the lappy but it still only shows as a firebird usb flash drive in devices and printers but not in the computer tag

I finally found the problem operator fault ie when I formated it I neglected to give it a drive letter and so easaus partition manager named it * and so windows 10 could not see it as a USB drive for some reason xp did not have any problem seeing it

Just a quick follow up; did you fix it in Disk Management, via DiskPart's "assign" parameter, or another method?

The XP rig may not have had a problem, because drive letters do not follow USB drives in my experience. That being said; I've had to use XP to format disks from a dismantled RAID0 array before, as Win 7 couldn't see them (showed in BIOS, but not in the OS).

I fixed it using easaus partition manager reformatted and assigned a label to it and now windows 10 sees it and can access and format using the normal format tool and file manager
