Hi all

Been given my nephews laptop to reload windows and drivers etc after HDD failure.

The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C660-195 (Part number - PSC0LE-02300JEN)

Now, I have made a boot disc using a copy of Windows vista (cracked) and it loads up to boot screen with disc with install options, I select to install to the new drive and it starts (after the language options) installing - it gets to extracting and fails at 12%

For some reason it will not go past this point ??

Could it be the version I am trying to install or the HDD not formatted right ? Ive selected the format HDD option but it does not seem to do it, or it does it very quickly being a new hdd.

Does anyone have a good copy I can use (cant use product key on laptop as sticker worn away as usual)

Thanks in advance.

hirens boot cd have a version of xp that will run from disk
or there are linux builds that will also run from disk to check out the system

The computer that says usb not suitable is my one im on now lol, the one im loading os on has nothing on it.

Still having problems. Created bootable usb with a different program. Loads into installing but fails at various points when it gets to extracting files or expanding files. Always says there is a file missing -

if you get error's and there is 2 sticks of memory you will need to check them individually, in slot one, if no error then try them in slot 2, you should be able to work out if its the memory that is bad or maybe a bad slot, if non at all in both then good maybe the memory isn't your problem :)

but I found in the past if you get the problems you have been getting it is usually memory.

Focus

Memory test was clean, all pass.

I downloaded a different version of win7 from digital river and it installed, just going through the 100's of updates atm.
Trying to remember the update to skip that kills daz loader !

I think the kb ends in 33 if memory serves me right

I'm pretty sure the newer daz loader isn't affected by it .

Anyways the update in question is KB971033 :)
