Do you have a real comport or a USB to Rs232 lead ?
I have a usb with 9pin male and rs232 kabel 9pin female-female.
For windows xp on dekstop pc works very well but on windows 8.1 on laptop don`t work.
I can`t flash a dreambox?

Driver issue then speak with the manufacturer of the usb to rs232 cable and see if they have a windows 8 driver.

if you have the driver package, you could try installing in compatabilty mode.

or buy a new usb - seriel converter which has win8 drivers, only cost a couple of quid.. :)

I had the same problem using rs232 sub serial converter plus stacks of other stuff etc in windows 8.1..
I binned win 8 in the end it was crap for doing anything with cables or android devices or sat boxes etc..
Went back to 7 and everything works..

One way around it is run winxp or Ubuntu from live disc or usb.

Mate give it up it just don't work I spent forever trying and then some..for some reason win 8.1 just was not compatible no matter what even when I would manually install drivers and change compatibility settings..Microsoft won't help just use a none win 8 setup.
