I cannot get my malwarebytes to run I have unistalled and re-installed and even done a system restore to a time when i know it ran and what ever i do it will not start I cannot access the user interface to start a scan . Not even safe mode makes it possibly to run it

hi, had the same problem with new malwarebytes, not responding when trying to update. there is a fix for this online, its a .bat file that you run and it fixes it, will try and find this for you.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere recently that some malware can actually stop malware prog's from running. You could maybe try a less-well known one- either until @coathanger57 finds the fix, or with a bit of luck it might even remove the problem.

Chameleon Gets Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Installed and Running

Malwarebytes Chameleon technologies gets Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed and running when blocked by malicious programs.

Usage

Download Chameleon from the link above. Unzip the contents to a folder in a convenient location.
Follow the instructions in the included CHM Help File or, if the help file will not open, simply try to run the files by double-clicking on them one by one until one of them remains open, then follow the onscreen instructions

Heres info from above post

First, ( but only if the program is running) lets shutdown the realtime Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Go to the desktop Taskbar. See the blue-color MBAM icon in the notification area.
Do a Right-click on it with your mouse, and select EXIT.

I have attached a zip file which you need to Save to your system.

Once saved, unzip it to extract all contents. which will be 2 files.
Next, double-click on **net_replacement.bat** file.
It should run fairly quickly in a command-prompt window.

Once that is done, restart the Anti-Malware and let me know if it works normally.

You are absolutely right Trevorton, some malware apps actively prevent your preinstalled anti malware program from running. In my opinion, a better anti malware program is SuperAntiMalware! I know the name sound very suspect for those who have not heard of it, but I have been using it in a professional capacity for a number of years and it's brilliant, previously I used MalwareBytes.

Another useful application on the site, is the Tech version of the Scanner, when you download it, it is saved with a nondescript filename and extension so as to prevent installed malware from allowing it to run. You can run from USB key or dump onto your desktop and run in safemode. SuperAntiSpyWare is worth a look for anyone needing to run a scan. And I do not work for or am in no way affiliated with them, just a bloody good tool.

Oooops, just realised, my first mention of the app is SuperAntiMalware, it should be SuperAntiSpyware, think I had Malware on the brain when I was typing before.
