can any body elp me ere am locked out of bios password on dell lattitude l,top any way round it guys?? cheers 4 any help... <img src="graemlins/flame.gif" border="0" alt="[flame]" />

have u got the book on ur mother board it should tell u a jumper to short to clear bios

Is it the bios password or the Dell system tag password, if its the latter you should have to phone Dell and ask for the password (you will have to prove your the legit owner !!! ) If you can't e-mail me your system tag & I'll send you a password, I had the same problem with my latitude. It took me months to remove it!!!

you can remove the small battery on the inside<br />as previously mentioned. leave it out for 30min<br />but if you dont need to go into bios dont worry too much about messing

DONT DO IT M8<br /> <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> <br />you need to back up the bios prior to a flash

What issue you got that you need to go into bios m8

lets see if theres another solution <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">

if it aint broke dont try and fix it

if u legit owner no prob as wavey said its a phone call to dell who will tell u the password to clear any forgotten password.<br />there is company in brum offering their expertese in removing "forgotton" passwords <a href="http://www.systemservices.co.uk" target="_blank">www.systemservices.co.uk</a> i've never used myself but could be worth a try if u dont want to speak to dell.

Removing the battery alone does not always work as the settings can still be stored for ages afterwards. You need to use jumpers on the CMOS. Make sure that the power is disconnected first.

It is probably the capacitor4s which are charged which keeps the meory alive when the battery is removed. As previously mentioned a jumper point can be shorted out to fully discharge the capacitors. Alternatively if you are confident enough the two contacts that connect to the battery can also be shorted out usind a small bit of wire or a terminal screwdriver.<br />But only attempt this if you are confident and are sure of what you are doing and never with the power supply on, and and remember to watch out for staic build up , use anti static strap or earth your self to something.

Good luck and let us know how you do

regards taff

<br />hey damage , I hope that sheep is not one of my relatives ..lol
