anyone know much about these. my m8 has just brought me up 2 of them but they don't seem to work on a stardard pc. only on a packard bell system it looks as if there are 3 pins missing on the connectors anyone if there is a fix for this to get them to work on a standard pc

Humm these both have a standard power supply. but the 15 pin d plug has 3 pins missing apart from that its a stardard monitor connector. both monitor leads are the same so it not that they have been broken off. and useing a packard bell system they work ok but if you connect them to a stardard tower system the icons on the desktop show up like ghosting on a tv one icon looks like 3 icons

See if his graphics card has one of those new DVI connctors, its a white oblong shaped connector.

If so it may be worth trying it in that, I caoun possibley get a adaptor next week:) FOC:):)

thx but i will have ago with some xp drivers i have downloaded and if they don't work i will pass them back to him i don't want to delve to deep into them lol .

I've never had any problems with them nor needed drivers that weren't included in Windows to get one working properly.

Packard Bell don't do anything special with their monitors so they only work with Packard Bell machines. Mine works with all machines.

he has 2 of these monitors both packard bell both differant model's
he tried them on both his pc's then brought them up for me to try on mine'
all with the same result there is 3 images of each of what ever is displayed ie. if you open a window you get 3 images of the window displayed on the screen. i have installed the correct drivers and tried that it made no differance both monitors do exactly the same thing 3 images displayed very odd lol

just stuck 1 on my daughters old amd pc fecker works ok on that . it seems that it don't like to high spec graphics cards . she only has a old 16meg card in her pc

they are prob vga monitors not svga, i assumue he and u are running at resoultions higher that 1024 x 784,

the way to tell is if u boot your machine in safe mode it defaults to 640 x 480, if that is the case then they are old moniters good 4 anybody that needs a monitor for a server but thats about all :)

he has just left one here and took one back. the one i have is a model number 1015 has speakers attached to the sides. it don't look that old but hard to tell by the looks lol

hi damage found this on http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/pb/faq/900hard.htm

Display Problems Running Games

This affects games such as Dungeon Keeper, and Speedster, on some Packard Bell machines with some PB 1015 / 14xx monitors. The fault lies with the ability of some tubes to switch refresh rates fast enough between different graphics modes.

The intro will play fine, but the game itself looks like someone switched display area to 1024x768 - you get three blurry screens and a lot of horizontal lines.

To solve this,

* Right-Click My Computer, Click Properties, then Performance, and Graphics
* Move the hardware acceleration to none
* Click OK/Close until prompted to reboot and do so.

looks like this monitor has been about for a while cos another site i looked it had win95 and win98 drivers.

couldnt find anything about the spec but it does sound like a backup monitor only :)

thx m8 the display was fecked just trying to display desktop lol no way would it display game graphics on the pc's it was tried on.but i tried it on my daughters with the sims and works great on that .
