Have you tried starting up into Safe Mode?

If you haven't put a password on from there then you can log on as the administrator and delete the password to your other half's account.

boot up the laptop when you get to the log in screen press Ctrl,Alt and delete at the same time then do it agian a box will apear use the drop down box click on administrator do not put in a password click ok it will log on as a administrator and you can delete the othe half's password and reset it if she want's to hope this help's
