The hard drive doesn't live in a pc. It is out of a Lacie Big 4. LaCie - 4big Quadra
It belongs to a mate and he replaced a faulty 1TB hard drive for the exact same model. Won't work though and the only thing I can see is that the firmware is different to the other 3 drives.
The original drives were manafactured in 2008 whereas the new one is 2009.
The main differences between the 2 firmwares are the number of cylinders and tracks per cylinder reported. I think this is why the Lacie sees a problem with the drive
Is there a way to change the firmware?
The drive is an Hitachi hdt721010sla360.
