Bit of a strange one this:

I did a clean install of 7 for a friend, connected the usb wireless mouse/keyboard and usb wirless internet, both of which installed fine without needing to get drivers.

I had a phone call saying that the internet has gone off bla bla, i go there and unplug the wirlesss usb stick, reinsert and it goes through the motions, installing drivers, then says a problem occured bla bla.

So, being use to people messing things up, i'd taken the liberty of having an image ready for quick reinstall, i put the image back on and expected it to load up perfect the way it was when i created the image.

It loads up fine apart from saying, found new usb devices and goes about installing drivers (now i would have thought that the drivers should still be there from before?) Anyway, mouse/keyboard go in ok but the wireless internet fails, either saying, the device drivers did not install or the device has malfunctioned.

So i think maybee it's faulty? I then insert my pen drive to try something and it gives the same error? I think maybee the wireless usb has corrupted some common usb file and thats why the pen drive don't work.

I reinstall the image again and insert the pen drive and it errors the same? Now it was working fine the night before and it is working ok in another PC.

I thought that it must be the usb side of the mobo is fcuked, but it can't be as the mouse/keyboard go in fine every time.

It's a weird fault, almost as if windows isn't accessing it's driver database??

Cheers for reading all that,

Hope someone can shed some light.

Cheers,

Dar
