My mate here at work was working on a document and he's closed it down and selected "no" and we can't get it back, the location that it states that it saves in every 10 minutes there ain't no documents in there and the drop down list only had 4 prev documents in there which the one that he was working on is not listed....is this because we never gave it a name?

I'd expect it to be called book1 or some thing and at least saved in the temp folder or the location that excel says it is to be saved in for auto recovery.

Thanks if any one has any ideas..!

Yeah tried that bud and nothing, he didn't give it a name, his excel is saying that it's stored in...\\Companyname.local\dfs\users\plonka\

You'll need to look for deleted temp files in the default folder he was working on, with some undelete software. However, if he said 'no' to do you want to save it, you'll be lucky to get it back.

Just had a look at office 2010 and it appears autosave does not kick in until you have renamed/saved the document at least once.

As mentioned by MoS, try having a look in recycler.

Thanks for this....well his meeting was at 4 bells with the CEO so i guess he's in there now trying to explain it all to him! *DOH*
