Got a friends HP Mini 110 netbook

symtoms are when it starts most of the time it freezes at the HP Logo pressing the BIOS setup screen doesnt get do anything

some times but not very often it goes to the POST BIOS screen and freezes, Once got a green screen

changed hard drive, memory still same problem

any one got an idea - is motherboard knacked or BIOS corrupt

I have attached some pictures of the screen

Does it boot up from a boot cd? windows cd or usb? you can get hirens on usb now.

this is the netbook so no CD even with a USB flash pen with Wn 7 on it wont boot up - so think BIOS if ****ed

just been googling around and may be able to use a bios recovery method by getting hold of the bios file, sticking it on a usb flash and turning machine on and holding ctrl+home key

problem is trying to get hold of the BIOS file, as HP website has the file as a Windows exe file so unable to extract the BIOS file

am sure will manage to get hold of a copy

Have you replace the BIOS battery ?

no why would that cause the symptoms - always been under impression once cmos battery goes, it will load default settings, set date to 1980 and boot up, where as this one doesnt even boot up

Depends, I have seen odd BIOS problems when the battery has died.

replaced the battery, same problem but get a different error message about date not set on POST screen still hangs at the HP Logo

managed to get hold of a BIOS ROM done the recovery BIOS flash technique which worked but still not fixed

ohh well will stick it on EBay and see what I get - any ideas how much I can get for it.

its is actually a nice neat laptop shame its knackered now
