printer issue

ive got a cannon mp970 printer ,its only 5 month old but the rear tray refuses to feed paper anymore
there isnt any paper stuck in in,and as far as i can see theres nothing else jammed in it,does anybody know any trick for clearing them out ,getting them running again

ive still got reciept but the store wants to send it to cannon and it could take over a month for me to get it back

Try cleaning the rubber bands on the wheels with isopropyl alcohol. If it is trying to grab the paper that is.

Five months doesn't sound like a reasonable amount of time for a printer to function. Hopefully someone with more sale and supply of goods act knowledge can reply.

I wouldnt do anything too drastic as if you end up getting it fixed under warranty they may say something you did caused the problem.

Cleaning the rubber feeders is good, as previously stated. Also there may be a small switch that tells the printer if there's papaer in or not, this may have become jammed.

As it is still under warranty then it needs to go back to the store. As captin has stated you could negate your warranty if you happened to something that is detected by canon. You also have to give the store the opportunity of repairing it or other.

When you say it wont feed paper...
I take it you've tried different weights of paper / card? new packets of paper etc
is the paper your trying to feed in slightly damp due to cold weather or condensation etc

Sure there is nothing in there jamming a mechanism ? ive seen rubber bands to get stuck in printers before now!!

When you say refuse, is it attempting to take it in? or is it doing nothing at all?

I had a similar problem with my Cannon, turns out a Biro dropped down the feeder slot, fished it out and all was well.

its trying to take it in,sorta grabs it on the right hand side ,and pulls it a little but doesnt .theres defo nothing stuck that i can see,
