dell laptop /wireless connection help please

Guys Got a dell inspiron 1720 laptop sitting here running vista, not mine

Can't get it to connect via wireless.

Wireless adapter looks enabled in bios.

Shows up in device manager OK.

In network connections shows as disabled. tried right clicking to enable, nothing,

diagnose comes up with it has driver or hardware issues.

Does not show up in cmd prompt with Ipconfig /all, only the Nic card shows,

Any help please. if anybody has the same laptop can you check what type of wireless card is installed
I'm stuck

I'm not being funny but is there a little switch somewhere to enable it? It's done me a few times. lol

Yes mate switch on side set to on.

Never seen one of these before but no light showing to show thats its enabled

on some dells ,i think u need hold fn and press f2 to enable it.

Thanks JTH, solved it

It was Zonealarm that was blocking it from working.

Strange that windows came up with hardware issues. Uninstalled zonealarm and it now works perfectly.

Sometimes I hate my wife for putting me forward to her mates to have a look at things.

Anyway sorted.
