Ive been given a Acer Aspire Netbook to have a look at as i was told the screen only partially displays!
Ive booted it up and the screen is knackered (see pic lol).
It has obviously been dropped/stood on or taken a serious bang and is beyond repair, a new screen is almost as much as she paid for the netbook!
She says theres some files on it thet she'd like to keep so i was hoping i could connect by vga to my pc screen to save the desired files...and this is were my problem starts.
When i connect it then boot it up it starts to boot as normal and displays the XP logo but then my screen says "no video input" but the netbook continues to boot as all the XP sounds appear as normal.
I can enter the bios if any settings need changing there but obviously cant enter XP's display settings!
Any ideas guys.Cheers

shouldnt need to enter xp settings, i hooked my acer netbook up via vga leed to my lcd tv no probs just connected the cable and presto,

try booting the netbook then connecting the lead after.

if not then theres issues othwer than the screen or the screen is causing it not to display on anything.

are you selecting the right source on your tv aswell? on mine its d-sub.

Boot it up plugged into PC Screen then Press: Fn & F5 at the same time this will cycle from LCD to PC Screen to Both Screens so you might have to repeat Fn & F5 a couple of times.

Pretty sure it's F5 look for the little pics on the keys some laptops are dif Function key.

On some note/net books you need to press the Fn button and one of the function keys to enable the external display

On my Dell its Fn and F8

Cheers

You should be able to get a screen or sell it for spares at a decent price on the forums at aspireoneuser.com if it`s any help to you.
